(Cineuropa) Picture Tree International gearing up for the EFM
With Marie Kreutzer’s The Ground Beneath My Feet being showcased in the race for the Golden Bear, Picture Tree International looks set for a fruitful Berlinale. The Austrian drama, which stars Valerie Pachner, Mavie Hörbiger and Pia Hierzegger, centres on workaholic business consultant Lola, whose grip on reality slips away as her older sister Conny comes back into her life after a tragic event.
The Generation title My Extraordinary Summer With Tess is also among the features on the company’s slate. An adaptation of the successful novel of the same name by Anna Woltz, Steven Wouterlood’s feature debut depicts a family holiday on the Dutch island of Terschelling. Sam, the youngest member of the family, gets drawn into an adventure when he meets an elusive girl named Tess.
Picture Tree International will also be presenting two German productions as part of the Lola@Berlinale screenings hosted by the German Film Academy. These are the German box-office hits That Boy needs fresh Air by Oscar winner Caroline Link and the buddy comedy 100 Things by Florian David Fitz.
Further market premieres for Picture Tree International include The Beast in the Jungle, an adaptation of Henry James’ 19th-century novella of the same name, directed by Clara van Gool, which will have its premiere at the forthcoming International Film Festival Rotterdam, Wolfgang Groos’s romantic comedy Cold Feet, Carolina Hellsgård’s zombie movie Ever After and Peter Dalle’s comedy Kingdom of Sweden. The firm will also be presenting a private preview of the action-comedy Sweethearts, directed by Karoline Herfurth and starring the director herself, alongside Frederik Lau and Hannah Herzsprung.
