Dark Lake
Synopsis
Valerie is a city cop at heart. She and her son David have just moved to a peaceful village on a lake in the forested countryside of Quebec for a new start. She hits the ground running. Her new chief’s partner recently disappeared without a trace. Full of eagerness, Valerie gets involved in the investigation on her very first day. Her son David seems to have seen it all before. Somewhat reluctantly, he accepts a job at a youth summer camp and meets Jade, an impulsive girl with an equally unhinged mom. Dave and Jade crush on each other as only teenagers can. Then strange coincidences and disappearances start to pile-up under a mysterious force. All number of modern fairytale characters are suspect. Eddy the harmless green-grocer, notorious brothers, a hermit or the shady mayor? Take your pick. The deeper Valerie digs, the deeper the darkness of the hole and its magnetic other-worldly pull. Can Valerie find and make peace with this case? What part does young Jade play?
